A big congratulations to Amanda Currie for becoming Germany’s first ever female level-two referee. Amanda has been keen touch player many years now. She has represented Germany in 3 European championships and one world cup. Amanda is captain of her home mixed team in Munich and as such is a shining example of a lady taking the lead in the sport.
Amanda has been working on her level two refereeing qualification with coaching from Derek Fischer and she passed the final practical assessment during the tournament at ACC touch in Vienna on the 10th of September. At this tournament, as one of the female referees Amanda was able to take control of the Men’s competition and show great awareness, endurance and impartiality.
“It is great to see women taking such a keen interest in the development of the sport. I hope to see these ladies pursuing a level 3 in the future", commented Mr Fisher, European referee director. “Congratulations to Amanda on becoming Germany’s first level 2.”
Coach of Amanda’s home team Keith Ball also expressed his pride at Amanda’s achievement saying that “Amanda is not only a great role model for our ladies but for our whole team here in Munich. What a great achievement.”
Also on this day Randy Iskakov, Jordi Bitlloch and Bob Kalman achieved their level 2 referee badges, so congratulations should also go to these three guys.
Bob Kalman
